Family-friendly walk on the Teufelsberg, Berlin.
This beautiful walk takes you around the Teufelsberg and to the Drachenberg in Berlin's Grunewald forest.
The starting point is at the Grunewald car park and follows the steps up to the Teufelsberg, Berlin's hang-gliding area. Sometimes you can even spot paragliders there. From there you have a fantastic view over Berlin and the Grunewald forest.
The route continues to the DAV climbing crag and then to a great downhill route for mountain bikes and cross-country fullys.
Afterwards, a real historical highlight awaits - the Berlin Teufelsberg NSA listening station. Its use as a recreational area was planned, but was thwarted for the time being as the US army used the mountain for a radio installation. The initially mobile installation for monitoring the airspace - in particular the three flight corridors between Berlin and West Germany - was soon made permanent. A radome was erected for this purpose, which also took over surveillance tasks far into the territory of the Warsaw Pact. After German reunification, the facility was dismantled.
