The 161 km long Wall Trail Run commemorates the victims of the former border that divided Germany between 1961 and 1989. The route largely follows the former course of the Berlin Wall with a distance of 100 miles (160.9 km) around western Berlin. The run always takes place on a weekend around 13 August (= the day the Wall was built). The route is mostly flat and asphalted and leads through urban areas, forests and meadows. The route changes direction every year.
