Panoramic hike through the Pfülben vineyard in Randersacker Randersackerer Pfülben - Steep slopes in the Main valley The Randersackerer Pfülben (or often just Pfülben) is a vineyard site between Würzburg and Randersacker that slopes steeply down to the River Main. The site was first mentioned in 1329, when the Middle High German term "Pfulwen" was used to mean a pillow - an allusion to the pillow-shaped appearance of the vineyard, which with its rounded edges and steep slopes pushes its way into the Main valley. The Pfülben is a single vineyard of the large Randersackerer Ewig Leben site, opposite which lies the Randersackerer Teufelsberg. Like Teufelsberg, Pfülben is one of the best vineyards in Franconia. It is characterised by steep slopes of up to 70% to the south/southwest, which means that the vineyards have to be cultivated by hand. The proximity to the River Main and the enormous gradient ensure optimal heat reflection and sunlight, but also great views on this fantastic hike.
