The Wank near Garmisch-Partenkirchen is widely known. This is not least thanks to its outstanding location and the breathtaking panoramic view of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the Wetterstein mountains. The Zugspitze and Alpspitze in particular can be seen from its summit.
This route starts at Garmisch-Partenkirchen railway station and heads east towards Wank. The ascent to the summit begins at the Josefsbichl-Gamshütte. Once at the top, you can take a break in the Wank-Haus (note opening times) before starting the return journey. You can hike back the same way or optionally take the Wank cable car back down to the valley.
The entire trail is well marked and easy to follow and (at least in summer) very busy.
