This demanding and scenically outstanding mountain hike leads into the heart of the Soiern Basin in the Karwendel Mountains. The trail connects the Isar Valley near Krün with the high-altitude Soiernhaus (1,616 m), following a diverse mixture of broad forestry roads, steep mountain trails (such as the Lakaiensteig), and rocky switchbacks. A central highlight is the view into the turquoise Soiern Basin with its two Soiern Lakes, which lie like gems within the rugged rocky landscape. Due to the significant elevation gain and several exposed sections, especially along the Lakaiensteig, the route requires very good fitness and surefootedness.
