Via Claudia Augusta

Challenging cycle route to cross the Alps along a historic Roman road from Donauwörth, Bavaria to Venice, Italy. The starting point can be reached by train (Donauwörth railway station). The return journey can be made by train (Venice-Munich) or by plane. The cycle route starts in Donauwörth and leads - continuously ascending - on the German section near the river Lech through Augsburg and past Lake Forggensee. Although the section in the Austrian and Italian Alps largely leads through Alpine valleys, it has a number of challenging daily stages where many metres in altitude are gained. After leaving the Alps, the last section invites you to roll out for several days in the Veneto region in northern Italy.
