A challenging tour that is ideal for e-bikes. With a normal bike, a good basic level of fitness is required due to the climbs.
The starting point of this route is a small car park between the Grüner Baum inn and the Landgasthof Löhner inn. As this is a circular route, you can of course join the route at any other point. Alternatively, the railway station in Lauf an der Pegnitz is also a good starting point.
The circular route takes you through Rockenbrunn and Haimendorf - known from the film Frankentatort - via Hohe Reuth and Schönberg. There you have a wonderful view of the hills of Franconian Switzerland to the north and far into the Pegnitz valley and Hersbrucker Schweiz. The route then continues past the Rothenberg fortress.
