Panorama Trail and Wöhrsee

This spectacular circular leads through one of Bavaria's most impressive historical settings on the edge of the Inn-Salzach region. The trail explores the area around Burghausen Castle—the world's longest castle at over 1,000 meters—and the idyllic Lake Wöhrsee nestled below. The route follows a diverse mixture of paved panoramic paths on the ridge, narrow lakeside trails, and historic cobblestone paths through the protected old town. A central highlight is the view from the Panorama Trail, which showcases the entire castle complex in its vast extent as well as the bends of the Salzach River on the border with Austria. The route is mostly level to gently undulating, requiring normal basic fitness for the short climbs to the castle.
