Oberkotzau - Frankenwald Tour

Demanding tour through the densely wooded, hilly areas of the Franconian Forest Nature Park in Bavaria. This extensive route requires an excellent level of fitness to cope with the considerable cumulative metres in altitude that are typical of this low mountain range. The surface alternates between forest tracks, gravel tracks and natural paths, which requires surefootedness on steep ascents and descents. Highlights include sweeping views over the neighbouring Fichtelgebirge mountains and historical sights such as the impressive Epprechtstein castle ruins - accessible after a challenging climb - which provide an insight into the region's medieval history.
