Highly scenic, high alpine long-distance hiking trail in the Allgäu Alps.
The "Heilbronner Höhenweg" is an absolute highlight in the Allgäu Alps and is now over a hundred years old. From the Bockkarscharte, Germany's highest alpine trail runs continuously at an altitude of over 2,400 metres.
It is possible to stop for refreshments at the Rappenseehütte and the Hermann-von-Barth-Hüte. The trail starts in Lechleiten, where there are car parks and overnight accommodation.
Parts of the tour also have the character of an easy via ferrata - steel ladders and bridges secure the progress and are available at most of the necessary points. The route leads along rocky, exposed terrain and over the stony ridge of the main ridge. Alpine experience, a head for heights, sure-footedness and fitness are absolutely essential to set off on the trail. A helmet is recommended.
As the route is very popular, large crowds can be expected at the huts, especially at weekends.
