Up to the Frillensee, this hike is very relaxed: a well-developed trail that runs quite flat and is also suitable for bicycles. From the Frillensee, however, you gradually gain altitude. In particular, the final ascent to the Hochstaufen should not be underestimated: Not only are sure-footedness and good physical fitness required here, but also a head for heights due to the exposed nature of the climb and various sections with ropes and wooden ladders to be overcome.
