The hike begins in the centre of the village. Right at the beginning, you walk up the Burgberg, from where you can see the whole village and the Kohlenberg. Parts of the hike run along the Sebastiansweg, an old processional route. From here, it is worth making a detour to the Erratic Block natural monument, a huge boulder made of eye gneiss with a base area of almost 30 square metres. It has been lying at this spot in the Frankenberg since the last ice age almost 15,000 years ago. It was transported here by a glacier - encased in ice.
