Beautiful hike in the Black Forest National Park, Baden-Württemberg.
A relaxing hike through the forests between Simmersfeld and Beuren. The trail leads along the Schneitbach stream and also to the remains of a medieval castle. Schildeck Castle is what is known as an "abandoned" hilltop castle. This means that most of it has fallen into disrepair and only a few remnants of the castle, such as rows of stones and a moat, remain. There are refreshment stops near the church at the starting point. There are also car parking spaces and bus stops for those travelling by public transport.
