Maulbronn Legend Trail

Exciting hiking excursion in the Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park. The idyllic wine-growing town of Maulbronn is located on the Württemberg Wine Route. You can explore the northern Black Forest region on this circular trail. The start is near Maulbronn Monastery. You pass the mill tower and reach the culture and wine trail on the monastery hill. Passing the beer garden on the left, the path leads almost as far as the Tiefer See bathing lake. Turn left at the Gruhe memorial site. The trail then leads through a magnificent forest and along its edge to the Reutsee lake. This exudes a marvellous sense of tranquillity. The hiking trail later leads in a curve past the beautiful Roßweiher pond up to Wilhelmshöhe. Shortly afterwards, you reach the legendary Faust Tower. The alchemist Dr Faustus is said to have lived here in the past and produced gold for the abbot. To the left of the tower is a goldsmith's shop that supports this legend. Almost at the end of the trail, you should pay a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Maulbrunn Monastery. The many small shops around the Maulbronn town hall are also worth a visit: the wainwright's workshop, bookshop, herb witch and monastery café.
