The Lothar Trail is an exciting adventure trail that was created after the hurricane "Lothar" that raged at Christmas 1999 and was named after it. The storm brought down large areas of forest and left a trail of devastation in its wake. Since its opening in 2003, the forest's revival can be observed on the almost 900 metre long adventure trail. Nature heals itself through its urge for life. Small plants and mushrooms grow on the destroyed trees and new trees soon shoot up. The path leads over footbridges, stairs and ladders. There is a viewing platform that offers a marvellous panorama over the ridges of the northern Black Forest.
The trail is free of charge, but donations are welcome. Travelling by bus is possible. The bus stop is located directly at the entrance. There are also numerous car parks available. There are regular guided tours by rangers from the national park.
