Mummelsee - Bismarck Tower - Hinterlangenbach

This hike leads through the heart of the northern Black Forest to the highest peak of the mountain range, the Hornisgrinde, and combines mystical cirque lakes with vast upland moors. The route starts at the Berghotel Mummelsee. From there, the trail leads steeply uphill through dense mixed mountain forests to the legendary Mummelsee, a cirque lake from the last ice age. Further up on the summit plateau of the Hornisgrinde (1,164 m), visitors hike along the high moor nature trail, where rare plants such as the carnivorous sundew and cotton grass can be admired on wooden footbridges. With a bit of luck, peregrine falcons and adders can be spotted on the rocky slopes.
