Bretten - Maulbronn - Derdinger Horn - Seentour

This scenic tour begins and ends in Bretten and leads through a beautiful valley via Ruit past the Aalkistensee lake to Maulbronn and the monastery, which is well worth a visit. From there, the route leads past Tiefensee lake through extensive forests to the hidden "Reutsee" lake via the romantic Scheuelberghof farm (there are beautiful horses here), which also offers overnight accommodation, and then downhill (12% gradient) to Hohenklingen - a charming little village that invites you to linger. After a coffee in the "Zum Lamm" restaurant right in the hairpin bend, the route then climbs uphill through wooded stretches to the "Bernhardsweiher" lake and, after another climb, up to the "Derdinger Horn". From there, there is also the option of taking the 1 km downhill route to the "Kraichsee". There is no other way to get back up to the "Derdinger Horn" - but it is certainly worth the effort, as the view of the entire southern region is simply stunning. The rest of the route leads through various villages, fields and meadows back to Bretten.
