Interesting, certified premium hiking trail in the Donaubergland, Baden-Württemberg.
This route leads through the FFH area "Großer Heuberg and Donautal", past the shepherd's well, across the sheep pastures on the "Alter Berg" and to the former sheepfold at Allenspacher Hof. The name of the trail says it all, as shepherding used to be a necessary addition to livestock farming for almost all villages in the Alb. Today, it mainly serves to preserve the typical Alb landscape. The route continues through valleys such as the Schäfer and Lippach valleys, which benefit from their location as side valleys of the Danube, as the local springs ensured the local water supply for many years. The route continues over gentle hills that offer marvellous views. However, this varied landscape also means that you have to climb quite a few metres and the hike requires a certain level of fitness.
