Albsteig (HW1) Stage 6: Heubach - Kuchalb (Donzdorf)

This route is stage 6 of the Albsteig (HW1), a long-distance trail along the northern edge of the Swabian Jura. This specific segment starts in Heubach and ends in Kuchalb (Donzdorf). This demanding hike leads over the Scheuelberg and runs for long stretches directly along the striking Albtrauf escarpment. Halfway through, hikers pass Weißenstein with its prominent castle. A special highlight is the Messelstein, offering spectacular panoramic views before reaching the destination on the Kuchalb plateau. Overnight stays are available in guesthouses or at the Kuchalber Hof directly on the trail; wild camping is prohibited in the nature park. Potable water is accessible in the towns and in Weißenstein, but a supply should be carried for the long sections along the ridge.
