Albsteig (HW1) Stage 11: Honau -Willmandingen

This route is stage 11 of the Albsteig (HW1), a long-distance hiking trail along the northern edge of the Swabian Jura. This specific section begins in Lichtenstein-Honau and ends in Willmandingen (Sonnenbühl). An absolute highlight right at the beginning is the "Fairytale Castle" Lichtenstein, which towers spectacularly on a cliff above the Echaz Valley. The path runs steadily along the Albtraum (Swabian Jura escarpment), passing panoramic rocks like the Gießstein and the impressive Nebelhöhle, a significant dripstone cave. After a detour to the Roßberg hiking hostel and the ascent to the Bolberg, the destination of Willmandingen is finally reached. Overnight stays are possible in guesthouses, at the Landhotel Sonnenbühl, or at the hiking hostel on the Roßberg; wild camping is prohibited in the nature park. Drinking water is available in the stage towns as well as at the tourist highlights, but a supply should be carried for the demanding climbs.
