Short walk from Bad Liebenstein Kurpromenade to the historic Altenstein Castle in the extensive Altenstein Park. Altenburg Castle is just a few kilometres away from the oldest spa town in Thuringia (Bad Liebenstein). It is surrounded by a picturesque landscape park, which is worth a visit in itself. This easy walk starts at the specialist clinics in the town and leads past the old post office, through the rose garden in Elisabeth Park to the castle park.

The route connects several cultural and natural sights. Starting from the region around Glücksbrunn Castle, the trail runs over the Schweinaer Höhe and through the spa gardens of Bad Liebenstein. The landscape alternates between open meadows near Bairoda and wooded sections. The path leads past the Landwehr defence system up to Laudenbach before descending to the Trusetaler Wasserfall, an artificial waterfall.

Scenic hike from Bad Liebenstein to the Großer Inselsberg and then to Brotterode, mainly through forest. Return to Bad Liebenstein by bus.
