The route starts at the Teufelsmühle. It first goes to Oybin, from where you turn uphill to Scharfenstein. From there it goes downhill again. You pass the Heideberg, which is not quite climbed. Instead, you come to a country road, on the other side of which the remains of Karlsfried Castle can be found on a hill.
