Best forest trails in Barmstedt

Idyllic circular hike in Schleswig-Holstein. A short but very pleasant circular route around the beautiful Rantzauer lake. The idyllic castle island can be visited and it is nice to cool off at the bathing spots during summer. Lake Rantzau is named after the noble family that resided here on the castle island. This is the official route of the Barmstedter MTV RTF. There are 2 routes on offer, the Schusterjunge Brevet (200km) and a Mini-Brevet (120km). The long route leads through Holstein Switzerland to the cobbler town of Preetz, from there it goes via Nortorf back to Barmstedt. The short route runs together with the long route to Wahlstedt, where the route splits. The routes meet again in Aukrug and then return together.
