Hiking trail steeped in history across Germany The Hiking Trail of German Unity connects the easternmost German city of Görlitz with the westernmost German city of Aachen over a distance of 1080 kilometres. The idea for this hiking trail was born after reunification in 1990, when members of the Meinerzhagen-Kierspe and Meißen Lions Clubs met near the city of Meißen. As the hiking route only uses existing and marked hiking trails, all 40 sections are easy to walk.
