Best easy trails in Sangerhausen

The scenic trail loops gently around a quiet reservoir nestled deep within the dense forests of the southern Harz region. Starting near Sangerhausen, the mostly level dirt path guides nature lovers beneath towering pine and beech canopies while tracking the curving waterline. Historically built in the early fifties to supply water for the historic local copper shale mining industry, the reservoir is now a peaceful sanctuary for local wildlife. This is a short route in the north of Sangerhausen. It explores the fields and forests in the surrounding area. It leads past the foot of the Hohe Linde Schacthalde. It then crosses the Heimbach stream and leads through the fields back to the starting point. There are of course wildflowers along the way. The trail is relatively easy and is suitable for jogging or walking the dog.
