The Lohmar Heath or Lohmar Forest and the Gagelbestand nature reserve is an area with many streams, ponds, small lakes and numerous rare inhabitants. It is home to the gale bush, whose leaves were used as a hop substitute in the Middle Ages. It is a very attractive area where numerous dragonflies, frogs, water birds and herons live. There is also a cemetery forest.
