Best moderate trails in Nordhalben

Official circular walk organised by Frankenwald Tourismus. This idyllic hike takes you around the entire Köteltal dam. The path is completely tarmac and car-free, making it suitable for cycling or walking. There are several places to sit along the way. Also recommended for families.

This is part of the circular hiking trail - Slate Trail along the "Green Belt" - Probstzella - Thuringian Forest. The slate trail connects interesting geotopes, technical monuments and museums that were created in the historical mining areas in the Thuringian Slate Mountains/Upper Saale Nature Park.

From Nordhalben railway station, the route leads over the Grund along the tame Rodach to the former hamlet of Jägersruh, from there via the Schwarzenteich uphill to Heinersberg. From there it's downhill back to the railway station.
