Best long trails in Ahorntal

Demanding circular hike in the Franconian Switzerland - Franconian Jura Nature Park from Oberailsfeld. The hike leads right through the Ahorntal valley and is characterised by the impressive castle, bizarre rock formations and caves as well as lush meadows and idyllic forests. The well-known Rabenstein Castle with its numerous leisure activities and rustic refreshment stops is also visited on this tour. --- Accessible by bus and train

The route largely follows the Ahorntalrundweg signposting (green maple leaf). There are numerous viewpoints along the route. The churches in Volsbach and Poppendorf are particularly worth a visit and can easily be combined with the hike. A guided tour of the Sophienhöhle cave and a visit to the Klausstein chapel can be added to the route.
