a short and very easy walk, but very beautiful waterfall and surroundings.

very hard, not a lot of views as the trail is mainly forrest.

One of the best trails and easy to follow with the app. Be prepared to get wet, because the hike is along the river the entire trip, and crossing the river can go knee deep at times, which for me was a relief when hiking and working up a sweat. Along the way you’ll be surprised with some incredible little waterfalls to bath in... and even hot springs! There’s plenty of shade throughout the trail and some good camp sites. The views from the top are magnificent! At night the temperature dramatically drops during the winter months, because who would think so of a tropical island on the equator?

Overall one of the best backpacking trips I’ve ever done!

Excellent return. The best trail ever. I really loved it.

The best trail ever. I love it! #PatasSucias #SenderoGuayabal.

The Greatest trail of all!

I have hiked some difficult terrains around the world and let me tell you, the terrain on this hike was something I had not experienced. It was dry and unmarked, it was overgrown and difficult to get through. We got lost several times, but when you make it to the top of the mountain, the views are breathtaking and makes it all worth it. This hike humbled me!!

1. I recommend trekking poles as the dry terrain will crumble with a slight touch going up steep mountains with pretty nice drop offs.

2. Bring plenty of water as there’s none along the way, only when you get up the mountain to set up your tent, and even then it’s another 20 min hike.

3. I believe you should be in good shape. This is not a beginners hike by any means.

4. Plan ahead and get a guide. They have park rangers that know the trails, without one... you will most likely not make it.

5. Cows live at the camp site, there’s a lot of poop everywhere.

It´s a nice trail for a day hike to the river. There you can enjoy the water and swim a little. The trail is not very well maintained, as it has a lot of erosion, but it´s clearly marked on the soil.

This is a beautiful trail inside a dry forest. It is light most of the part, with an important elevation gain from the middle of the route and on. At the campsite you enjoy a view of the Ocoa Bay (Bahia de Ocoa), that makes all the effort to get there feel like nothing. In the night it get very cold and there´s not plenty of water.

It is a very tough partly rocky, partly muddy trail.

A must, el Pico is awesome.

ATENCION:: EVITEN IR CON PATAS SUCIAS::: estuvimos 2 dias perdidos.

Gran experiencia.

excelente ruta. recomendada.

It was a good experience... the trail along the river gives lots of opportunities to get good pictures, plus most of the trees are marked so we can get to know the different native and introduced species of flora in the area.
There are natural pools we could access from the trail, but the jumps are the thing there...
The guide said there are plans to repair the wooden stairs to the falls since they are all in decay (looking forward to come back soon)

The hike was an amazing experience. It is beautiful fall... the only thing, the trail is a small path the locals use to access the river. It is not kid friendly or if you are scare of heights (that's why is rated hard).

Increíble vista, buen trayecto !!
