I have hiked some difficult terrains around the world and let me tell you, the terrain on this hike was something I had not experienced. It was dry and unmarked, it was overgrown and difficult to get through. We got lost several times, but when you make it to the top of the mountain, the views are breathtaking and makes it all worth it. This hike humbled me!!

1. I recommend trekking poles as the dry terrain will crumble with a slight touch going up steep mountains with pretty nice drop offs.

2. Bring plenty of water as there’s none along the way, only when you get up the mountain to set up your tent, and even then it’s another 20 min hike.

3. I believe you should be in good shape. This is not a beginners hike by any means.

4. Plan ahead and get a guide. They have park rangers that know the trails, without one... you will most likely not make it.

5. Cows live at the camp site, there’s a lot of poop everywhere.

It´s a nice trail for a day hike to the river. There you can enjoy the water and swim a little. The trail is not very well maintained, as it has a lot of erosion, but it´s clearly marked on the soil.

This is a beautiful trail inside a dry forest. It is light most of the part, with an important elevation gain from the middle of the route and on. At the campsite you enjoy a view of the Ocoa Bay (Bahia de Ocoa), that makes all the effort to get there feel like nothing. In the night it get very cold and there´s not plenty of water.

It is a very tough partly rocky, partly muddy trail.

A must, el Pico is the awesome.

Beautiful trek but above all, the Enchanted Valley full of life, birds, wild pigs, mint, wild berries, watercress and all kinds of insects, is truly enchanted.

The Valle del Tetero es the most iconic valley of the national park system of the country. Can get very cold for an island on the Caribbean and is very beautiful. You can get there by different and several trails. It can hold many hundreds visitors at a time. The trail is very difficult because of the erosion and mud.

the trail was beautiful

This was an excellent trail going first thru a little hill and then walking over a river. After that we took a dirt road which lead us to the trailhead itself, and then found a beautiful place to camp: Máximo Gómez Campground. A very ease trail to make with kids and pets.

Beautiful trail to a magnificent waterfall from where you can jump to the river. It´s a place for all the family to enjoy.

Great route but a very bad maintained trail. The views are great and the campsite is really awesome!
