HikingBridge out

Wonderful trail but very long. It was amazing to see and walk on history. The Carib Trace or old track laid by slaves and laborers over hundreds of years ago is still helpful. The latter section of the trail into Castle Bruce needed some help to clear and be prepared to cross the river. It was fun and maybe the easiest trail thus far.

Bird WatchingBridge out

Wonderful hike with all the ups and downs. Out of Trafalgar village was breath taking assent to Laudat village and then a wonderful walk to Middleham Estate and towards Middleham Falls. One can detour to the waterfalls as it's the tallest in the Eastern Caribbean and then backtrack towards the trail. The trail is long and mostly flat wrapping around Morne Trois Piton. Main pointers; after reaching the top of the main mountain to the gazebo, use the ropes and especially the steep descent into the river. Be very careful to find the connecting trail getting out of the river. There are ropes to help and then off to Pond Case. Yes, it would feel there is no end in sight but you will finish.

Nature tripsBridge outOver grown

Great hike from Belleview Chopin to Giraudel and then down down down to River Clair. The bridge was out after Tropical Storm Erica but the trail also went cold and was impossible to find. We decided to climb the ridge and then found the trail halfway up the ridge. I spoke to the coordinator of the trail and he confirmed to me that he will get on the trail the very next day to remark and fix the entry to the trail after passing the river and onwards to Morne Prosper. We lost too much time at the river looking for the trail and decided to stop our trek in Morne Prosper.

Absolutely amazing river trekking and waterfall experience. Rock climbing and getting wet is a must for this in-the-river trail. Lovely experience with waitukubulitours.com

Nice view of the ancient volcano of Soufiere/Scott's Head that erupted some 5000 years ago creating the deepest area of the island. waitukubulitours.com

It's a nice walk on as paved as it's going to get with a few steps to the most popular waterfalls on the island ... choose Waitukubulitours.com .. awesome!

Lovely trail with loads of fruit trees and french historical structures on the trail. Lookout for the bees after the second set of ropes but before the third ropes. See the alternate trail on the left before the bees and then climb upwards to get back on the main trail. Have fun!

One of my favorite hiking trails. One can drink refreshing spring water right off the rocks. Them listen for the river running under your feet. Amazing hikes

Trail should be rated as hard (not moderate). Lots of ups and downs. It was very muddy when we went (rainy season). The hike is worth it though. adventure is guaranteed.

Nice trail with a few uphill sections. Only about ~45 minutes from the parking lot between there and Freshwater lake. The view is amazing, the air is cool, and gorgeous plants everywhere.

so much diversity in one trail. jungle walk, ridge line cloud ascent, steep drop, valley of desolation (boil eggs on the way back here), stream crossings, and finally the surface of another world complete with an actual boiling lake. we hiked in the rain most of the way and it was cool and wonderful. my GPS tracked 15 miles out and back. definitely try to start no later than 10am. you are rewarded at the end with a wonderful swim in Titou Gorge to cool off and clean up. the sounds are wonderful too!

Steep climb out of Trafalgar that levels out at the top of the ridge. Worth stopping at Trafalgar and Middleham Falls along the way. Trail is clearly marked and in good shape.

Hiking

At the start of the trail is the gorge where Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed. Great for a swim after the hike. The front half of the hike is mostly steps, mostly up but some down to river crossings, until you gain the peak. Then it’s downhill, steps for awhile then becomes rocky and steep descending into the valley of desolation. Bring an egg or two to boil in the sulfur springs. The trail below this area is washed out so follow the stream until you see it take off to the right up a steep embankment, there’s a rope to help you up. There’s also a hot/warm waterfall and pool here to swim in. It’s wonderful beyond words, supposedly sulfer water is good for the skin. Then up to boiling lake a half an hour more. Depending on atmospheric conditions it can be enshrouded in mist. It’s was raining heavily and incredibly windy the day I went. On the plus, nice and cool and dozens of incredible waterfalls and low clouds around the volcanic spires, it looked like Pandora. The negs, the entire trail was a muddy riverbed and slippery, river crossings went from bad to worse as the day went on. Forget about dry shoes, impossible. The weather made it exciting and adventurous. Do it!

Hiking

I did this hike back in 2015 and it was and still is my favorite hike if all time. The route we took was closer to 8.1 miles round trip. There’s four parts: Titou Gorge to breakfast river, then onto valley of desolation, then to the lake. The hike is challenging and you go over a variety of terrain. It’s helpful to have a local show you the way and the many great stops along the way: natural hot springs, valley of desolation, and more. Also it is a challenging hike with some severe drop offs, small river crossings and other challenges that a local can help you navigate. Do yourself a favor and hire a local guide on this one. We went with Marvin and it was epic! Jumped in Titou Gorge as a final finish (again, a local has to show you where to jump to avoid the rocks). Loved it. Hiking

Technical trail with lots of obstacles to maneuver — slippery stairs when wet, rope climbs, river crossings. Extremely fun and unique terrain! A dip in the river was a nice reprieve on the way back down.
