Gendarmstien is a coastal walking and hiking route along the Danish-German border. It's often said to be one of the most beautiful trails in Denmark. The trail is mainly a pedestrian route, but it's possible to do the trail by mountainbike as well as long as you keep the pedestrians in mind. If you want to know more about the history of the route, the nature you come across or even everything about local myths and legends, take a look at: https://www.gendarmsti.dk/da/Show more

This trail follows the red signs, although the signs are not always clear. The trail passes the animal garden, an old forest where you can find two different deer species: the sika and fallow deer. Between the lakes and Bybaekvej is a beech forest. It was planted in 1710. Near Bybaek Runddel the trip passes a fishing house and island in the ocean. Along the Hunters path there are flowers that only grow in a hot and humid places. 2 burial mounds from the Bronze age near Bybaekvej can be seen as two smaller rises in the terrain. The Erteboelle People lived in Vejle Fjord for about 7000 years ago and lived on what the ocean offered, like mussels, fish, whales and some the sea birds.Show more

Enebærodde is a wonderful piece of nature. This trail takes you all the way to the tip of Enebærodde and back, past sandy beaches, through forests and over beautiful heathlands. It's the heathlands and it's juniper bushes where Enebærodde got its name from. It means "Juniper Spit" in Danish. There are several swimming and fishing spots on the beaches, but do not go swimming at the tip of Enebærodde. The currents are very strong there, but you will have amazing views from here and the lighthouse is the perfect place to stop for a packed lunch.Show more

This trail goes past the Seven Years' Lakes and over Stoltenbjerg. It's a trail with magnificent views, past an unusual piece of nature. The Seven Years' Lakes get their name because the lakes occasionally appear and disappear. The heathlands turn purple every summer, and the trail goes through forests and sand dunes. Show more
