Length: 8.6 mi • Est. 3 h 44 m
Stubbergård Lake is an area that is both rich in history as in nature. The clean waters of the lake and rivers and the rich wildlife made that the area around the lake was already inhabited since the Stone Age. The trail brings you past Sortehusene, which are two ancient boathouses. Now they are a small museum where you can learn about the history and nature of Stubbergård. Another historic monument you come across is Stubber Abbey, an old Benedictine monastery of which now only ruins are left. The nature and wildlife of Stubbergård which made the lake so famous back in the day are still as present as ever, making this loop around the lake an excellent trail to experience Danish nature.Show more

Length: 117.2 mi • Est. Multi-day
This trail combines the two trails Hærvejen and Trækstien to make one large loop trail. The Ox Road, in Danish known as Hærvejen, is a trail that has sections which can be traced back more than 6000 years ago. Back then the trail was primarily used as a trade route. This is where the route gets its name from, oxen walked the route the most. Along the trail you'll still see parts of the old tracks, sheep pens and fords. The route is well marked as Hærvejen and you can either walk or cycle it. Every year the hiking event Hærvejsmarchen is organized along the trail. Trækstien is a centuries old trail which follows the old tow paths of the River Gudenå. It comes past a couple of natural gems of the province.Show more

The Himmelbjerg Route takes you along the most beautiful places of the Himmelbjerg mountains. The route is well marked with poles and red arrows. Sometimes the poles are brown, which means you enter private areas. You are allowed to walk the paths of private areas from 6 AM until sunset. There's several campgrounds along the routes, and for whoever wants to enjoy the scenery from a different view, near the starting point of the trail is also the stop for a solar powered ferry that takes you across the lake (only during summer).Show more
