Trail goes through the woods then to an open field, across the field back through the woods to the ridgeline.

nice trail we got on after clay furnace trail to follow back to the entrance were we parked. decent uphills

Hiked part of the trail with my German shepherd today. It was nice and cool out with not many people out. Saw a few hunters in the distance. It was really pretty with all the leaves on the ground.

Fantastic short trail to three different overlook points of the falls. The trail is about 200 steps down to the overlooks and was a bit icy today, however if you take your time you’ll have no problem! Definitely worth the stop and can be completed in 20 minutes.

Quick little loop. Nice variation. Field > Woods > Field > Woods.

Did get off the path once but reading prior reviews and using a map helped! Great hike!

A couple weeks past peak foliage but nice fall hike on a crisp, sunny fall day. Part of day hike is roadside trail - there are options to stay away from the road. Old furnace and outlook add to hike.

Our AM was drizzling and we cancelled our long, hard hike, but decided to brave conditions and ‘slip this one in.’ So very glad. Canopy thick that we did not get wet despite light rain. Trail undulating enough it’s wasn’t too muddy. It’s not a ‘rock hopping’ trail so slippage not a danger. Gorgeous views, surprisingly magnificent. Lightly trafficked, only a few others on trail. This time of year’s golden carpet of leaves Not To be missed!

Lots of Rocks and Roots crossing the trail. Make sure your wearing proper footwear. Beautiful hike.

The falls are beautiful, but my rating more has to do with the trail. There’s no off-boardwalk option that lets you get square on to the falls. Not prime for photography. Light starts to effect the trees behind the falls starting around 8:15am FYI

This was a great day hike! The highlights are the Henry Clay furnace and rock climbing in Rock City. It is 8.6 miles not 6.8.

This is our 3rd hike on this trail. We started in the campground and tied together the Balsam Fir Trail, Pase Point Trail and the Dobbins House Trail to make a loop. Great hike. Relatively flat but rocky and lots of roots.

The view was great, quite a bit of people though. We went to the scenic outlook area. Didn’t get to explore the trails very much because it was so crowded everywhere you went, so we decided to come back another time. I moved here from a different state so I didn’t know what to expect. Definitely will try to go on a week day next time.

The only thing "moderate" about this trail was that none of it was marked. Since it's a loop, that wouldn't be as big of a deal if it didn't split in various places without any signs or blazes. It was especially difficult to know which way to go when the trail dumps you out onto a few meadow areas which were overgrown when we went this morning. I was NOT pleased. Were it marked properly (as any trail, no matter the length, should be), this trail would be okay for a stroll.

Loved it!

I started along the road side trail until it cut north and continued counter clockwise. This area is some of the most gorgeous I have hiked in the WV area, however, be aware that the GPS overlay of this area does not match up well to the trail loop depicted. I had to turn around 3 separate times because the GPS overlay showed me taking one trail when in reality I should have taken the other which was not always marked as a trail and often times looked more like a maintenance road. The trail does have maps along the route posting where you are, however, this was the first time I have had issues with the overlay not matching. Definitely great for families and recommend checking out the overlook as well as the iron furnace!
