Nice jogging trail. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 was because of no elevation variance. There is a trail easily accessible at the east part if you want a trail run with some hills. Overall this is a very nice find for a maintenance jog.

Went here a couple times durning my lunch hour with a freind lovely walk and quiet and peaceful great place to relax

Wish I could have taken one of the longer approaches to this State High Point but we were limited on time and wanted to do some other more scenic hikes in west Virginia. Short walk to summit from parking area if you keep going past the tower there are some better views than you get at the tower in the first quarter mile.

Great hike, the over look is an easy hike and has a beautiful view. The stone fort loop is a killer & the summit doesn’t have a view, but the history plaques make it worth the hike. I felt very accomplished completing the hike.

Nice trail, with enough elevation to get your heart up some. The overlook wasn’t much on a rainy winter day, but still an enjoyable trail. Some of the rocks on the western side of the loop are a really crumbly sandstone, so watch your footing on those.

Well-maintained, easy to follow. Not secluded (comes across trailer park along the way), but some wildlife and nice views.

Well marked and well blazed. Definitely a moderate to hard hike with long, steep hills. Nice views.

Great trail! Very steep though. You’ll walk right past a waterfall within the first few minutes

The access road to this trail is gated from January until the snow melts.

We drove here from wheeling. The first gps map took us an HOUR out of the way and wrong way, never will use google maps again! Then we used a different app and got there shortly. The trail to get to table rock was flooded with rushing water and was washed out- so unfortunately we couldn’t cross. We did decide to walk to lindy point overlook instead and it was pretty awesome! We plan to visit again with a better vehicle as it looks like a fun place to do a little off roading. I did like this place more then Coopers rock.

Very easy trail with nice civil war historical landmarks along the way including a nice overlook of the Potomac River. Highly recommend for kids.

The overlook is the big payoff but the full stone fort loop is well worth it, especially if you’re into the history. There are extensive remains of a large stone fort and some pretty decent views east and west. The ascent is steep for a short stretch but the trail is in excellent condition. Far fewer people up here.

Great challenging hike. Lots of technical stretches over rocks, including some with steep drop offs around the southern point of the mountain. Areas closer to the trailheads are quite wet (we hiked in the midst of a snow melt). If water is high you should plan to get wet crossing the Stonecoal, which you will do numerous times. Just north of the Breathed Mountain-Red Creek junction is an easy side trail down to the creek which has a great series of waterfalls and rapids if the water is high. Many cool small waterfalls along Red Creek. Easy to lose the trail in places

this trail is not at Hawk nest State Park, it is a couple miles away. Loved it. flat and easy trail, fun waterfalls to look at. perfect for my girls and dogs.

Definitely a challenge, but a rewarding one! The hillside was quite steep (and I will definitely be sore tomorrow), but if you take an extra minute to follow the road once you reach the top, you’ll come across a beautiful and worthwhile overlook. We had to cross a few streams at the beginning of the hike, so definitely bring the proper footwear!
