Excellent trail in the New River Gorge - Hiked 6 miles and had the place to myself - a great alternative to the busier trailheads at Long Point and Endless Wall - lots of riverside views during leaf off seasons. The sound of the river whitewater is so peaceful. The trail varies in width but is only single track for a short portion. A spring crosses trail at . 7 Mile and caused a short portion of wet trail not too muddy though. At . 9 mile small stream crosses with a small waterfall within eyesight of trail - a closer look may be possible by navigating a boulder field. Stopped riverside for a snack and break point. The trail would be great for kids or begineer hikers. It is not difficult.

Great trail. Not the most scenic but quite enjoyable on a rare 70 degree day in January. Some trees down but climbing over and through them brought the kid out of me. Saw a few gorgeous deer. The overlook was a nice relaxing place to rest a few. I see many complaints about it but in mid Winter it had a great view.

thank goodness for bike trail markings, otherwise we might not know where we were going. not for the inexperienced, due to the lack of markings for hikers and needs a little maintenance. but we enjoyed ourselves

Hiked part of the trail with my German shepherd today. It was nice and cool out with not many people out. Saw a few hunters in the distance. It was really pretty with all the leaves on the ground.

Did get off the path once but reading prior reviews and using a map helped! Great hike!

Trail in fair condition. Varying from Muddy to leafy to asphalt. Nice section from Clover lock to Marlington. Great fall colors. No cell service so download directions ahead of time. AT&T has service in Marlington. Verizon did not. End your ride at the dirt bean restaurant and bike shop for a well deserved beer or coffee.

Really great trail if you enjoy being close to the water. Beautiful views and a nice wide trail for most of it, but some parts do get narrow. A great little find!

First time on this trail. Great views down on the river!

The view was great, quite a bit of people though. We went to the scenic outlook area. Didn’t get to explore the trails very much because it was so crowded everywhere you went, so we decided to come back another time. I moved here from a different state so I didn’t know what to expect. Definitely will try to go on a week day next time.

I started along the road side trail until it cut north and continued counter clockwise. This area is some of the most gorgeous I have hiked in the WV area, however, be aware that the GPS overlay of this area does not match up well to the trail loop depicted. I had to turn around 3 separate times because the GPS overlay showed me taking one trail when in reality I should have taken the other which was not always marked as a trail and often times looked more like a maintenance road. The trail does have maps along the route posting where you are, however, this was the first time I have had issues with the overlay not matching. Definitely great for families and recommend checking out the overlook as well as the iron furnace!

Fun trail. Narrow trail along the river and up and down the mountain. Easy to follow but needs to be blazed, especially in the area where the trail runs through a dry creek bed. The turn is easy to miss.

Hiked in Sept 2019. Would not recommend during snowy conditions. some very narrow side hill sections could be slick. Recently cleared but some trees to get over. Not blazed but trails were easy to find and follow. Hiked clockwise and took about 3 hours.

Only did 7 miles of this trail on bicycle, but it is gorgeous and easy to follow. Can’t wait to go back and do more of it it the future. Nice that they allow camping on the trail.

some places over grown in weeds but nice.

Overgrown and easy to get off the trail. Much longer than advertised and not marked at all.

The no trail, that's what the locals call it. This trail is a conglomeration of several trails. These trails are well marked. Suggest you obtain a trail map from the office and take a few minutes BEFORE hiking to select which trailS to use. There are no markings for the Altrails Coopers Rock trail. Suggest to use Altrails app as a reference. The overall hike was fantastic. The trails were either loose rocks, or protruding roots. I would highly reccomend this hike.... after planning your route. It is for that reason. I took a star

Good trail with river access. It's officially 2.2m each way, but goes well over 16m taking you to Army camp Road

I was cautiously optimistic. But based on the reviews I didn’t expect much. But, I had to find out. At first this trail was awesome. Well marked and well maintained. Then the trail comes to a cross road. But, gps says go straight through heavy brush. The cross road took us to the river or up to a play ground. Turns out this was a boat ramp. Not being able to find the trail we went to the playground to look around. Then realizing we were on the upper part of the loop decided to continue. The last part took us to another dead end into a field. Had there not been a farmer plowing this field we would not have walked the perimeter. I do plan to return in the winter to see if this trail does exist where the heavy brush was. But I’m all I wasn’t impressed.

Definitely need trail markers. Even using AllTrails we went off trail. Otherwise, nice!
