Super muddy and some ice and snow in some places. Very slippery. Would have been more enjoyable in drier weather without all the deep mud puddles from the snow run off and foot traffic.

Beautiful trail through a PNW lush forest with gorgeous waterfalls! There are 3 major falls and I'd actually recommend extra traction to reach the 3rd one. I used micro-spikes and many people mentioned they wish they had brought some as well. It was a bit muddy/snowy/icy/slushy and the last portion of the trail was covered in snow. The trail is overall in great condition. A tree very close to the trail recently got uprooted and you'll have to cross the hole where the roots were, but nothing hard. For a more experienced hiker this trail is on the easy side, but beginners might find it difficult.

So fun in snow! Went with my grandsons 1/19 and it was beautiful. Some downed trees to go over and under. Have to park off the freeway exit and walk the FS road to the parking lot/trailhead. It’s not too far.

Great easy trail. Trail head not marked. When you come to the fork in the road where the camp is, take the fork to the left, it’s at the gate at the end of the road. When on the trail, stay on the gravel road until you see the signs for Explorer Falls. There’s stump piles and such to go around but so worth the reward.

We couldn’t get to the trail during this time of the year. We were driving a compact rental car...do not attempt this unless you have an all-wheel drive vehicle that can handle extreme snow and ice. Some of the trucks helping us out of the snow when we turned around on the road had difficulties as well. Although the drive was gorgeous!! I’m sure the trail would have been amazing.

Short but fun trail to the waterfall. Still bit muddy/slushy/wet at some part of the trail. Saw few groups with dogs NOT on the leash. Open to many different trails up to Chuckanut Mt.

A little slush and tiny patches of mud here and there, but definitely nothing to be concerned about. You might consider some extra traction depending on your comfort level, but definitely not needed today. Not overly crowded which was nice. Each of the Lookouts at the Lower and Middle were very peaceful.

The trail itself was very nice although difficult to find where we were going. I think you could walk along any of this area and find it beautiful. The issue is in the fact that you’re essentially walking through a gun range and that does not make for any type of enjoyment. I personally do shoot both indoor and outdoor and without some clarity around where people will be shooting it’s very uncomfortable. Everywhere we went there was shotgun shells on the ground and the sound of gunfire bouncing off the hills.

Nice saunter straight up the mountain. It’s about a 1000. Perfect distance from civilization. Just be warned: if you’re not sure footed, you will fall! It can get pretty slippery… Even in the summer with the dry dust. Not much of a lookout, but hopefully someday they will rebuild the old firewatch lookout tower.

The main trail is packed down, only requiring boots, but if you take the Emerald Necklace Loop around the peak, it gets deep and snow shoes are recommended. The main trail loop is not forged thru at the top. Most people look like they are doing out and back, from either side. Also, the parking lot is straight ahead on google maps; don’t turn right at the Antoine Conservancy sign.

Starts off with little snow but gradually gets snowier. Recommend spikes and poles for control and safety. Went up without them and took a bit longer than normal. Coming down was slippery and fun but sketchy at times in a few parts. Dress warm to thermoregulate. Top has a few feet of snow in places and is hard to climb due to amounts of snow.

Warning! We attempted to reach the Boulder River TH this morning and had to make a tricky turn around about 2 miles in. Even driving my AWD it was a bit sketchy considering the snow is still quite deep and the road has multiple blow downs to navigate. I was glad to make it out safely and will be back once the snow melts because I love this hike!
