We went two weeks ago after some snow had accumulated. Micro spikes were a necessity, particularly for the last quarter mile which is sheer. Girlfriend was having trouble digging in and slid a lot. Came down that part on our asses, but otherwise a decent challenge.

Nice scenic trail. It had snowed the day before so it was probably easier than normal since the ice was contained. Beautiful views from the summit as well. Recommend for a nice stroll, not particularly challenging enough for a workout if that’s what you’re looking for.

First 2 miles are very flat. Last .2 miles you’re climbing a wall.

Living right on the rail trail in Morrisville a day does not pass that my wife and I are not not on the trail with our dogs. The trail is not challenging but offers nice views, and has a brewery on the path (Lost Nation). When there is snow we snow shoe and we see many hikers, cross country skiers and the occasional snow mobile. The trail is shared with all. It is not busy in winter, summer there are lots of bikers. Lots of wildlife on trail. You won't be disappointed.

Hiked up to the top of the hill, then took the loop trail back down. Overall a nice hike. Little steep in a few places and a few inches of snow, but not too icy so wasn’t too bad.

First half easy, second half steep. Very very steep just before the summit. Crampons very useful if not necessary for the last 0.25 mi.

I found this trail to be meh. It was nice to get out for a three mile hike, but there were quite a few houses along the trail. Parts of the trail were within hearing distance of the road, which I thought detracted from the hike. None of the hills on the main path were very steep, and there was no view or other attraction. However, the trails were clearly marked and maintained.

Spectacular trail! We took it December 26th, 2019. There was still snow on this north-facing slope leftover from the Thanksgiving and early December storms. We saw numerous ski tracks from people who descended from Pico to Sherburne pass along the trail. The temperature was low to mid 30's, and there is plenty of both running water streams and ice on the trail, so microspikes or the equivalent are required. As others have noted, the last pitch from the cabin to summit is pretty steep, and if you are on this section during ski season, be prepared to jump off the trail fast. Two skiers came down while I was making my way up. Views from the top are good, but the summit is fairly industrial, with the comms towers and chairlift. I'd rate this a moderate hike. If there is significant snow cover, snowshoes with good crampons would be necessary.
