First time on this trail for an easy afternoon hike. The highlights of this hike are the water views and access. The trails are easy going, some parts are rooty. On this day the mud had frozen so the trail was lumpy with small pockets of ice, but easy to step around. In dry conditions should be fine. Nice raised areas have been built to get the trail above the more marshy areas. Boxed in areas filled with gravel, rather than boardwalk style walk areas. Very sturdy. Good informative signage at the many junctions. As the photos show, the freezing bay made for beautiful views with the hazy winter sun.

Really nice little hike. You are really going to want micro spikes in the winter. A lot of really slick ice.

Pretty cool hike down to the cave. Went in the winter so it was hard to walk on the ice not knowing if it’d break.

Great hike, easy-moderate. Very well marked and maintained. Watched the sunset from top, absolutely beautiful! There’s definitely black ice on the road and parts of the trail now, be careful.

Although an easy, uphill, paved path/trail, Mt Philo remains one of my fav trails in VT. Simple, yet w/amazing views from the top, I highly recommend this trail. Make sure to go around mid October when the park closes for cars so you can enjoy the fall foliage while walking up w/out having to deal with traffic/vehicles.

Two of us hiked to summit Nov 10. Some snow on trail but not slippery. Beautiful view from Brownsville Rock. Trail was easier than expected. Under 5 hours total. Very enjoyable.
