Great trail did it in the winter time. It was soft snow so it worked out fine. Had it been icy it would’ve been a problem and you would require snow shoes. Hiked in snow boots. No wildlife but lots of deer tracks. Sat up top and looked out over Magic Mountain. Moderate difficulty steepest part at the beginning but wonderful hike down and around to trail head.

The trail was great - already broken and easy to follow for the most part. Several stream/brook crossings in the first mile or so that were iced over so not too risky. Once we joined the Long Trail trail markers became a difficult to find and the trail was a little tricky to follow as whoever hiked before us couldn’t find the trail and as a result went a few different directions and turned back. We logged into AllTrails to pin our location and used the beacon to stay on trail. Super windy at the summit but on a less windy day it would’ve been gorgeous. This is a fantastic winter hike!

Snow covered trail. Unfortunately not much of a view at the top due to weather but definitely a workout! Would like to come back in the spring.

Not well marked but we were lucky to be the second group up this day, so we followed tracks through the snow in late January. Starts even then climbs straight up.

Trail was moderately trafficked and had a lot of rocks on the trail. Amazing view at the top and the dogs loved it. If you take your dogs watch out for a few icy spots that you have to go over.

Hiked this 1/24/20. Had the trail to myself. Nice views. Interesting trail with several views along the way. However, I would not rate this hike "moderate". It was more challenging than that. Icy in spots, need microspikes. Love this hike. Biggest little mountain hike around.

This is an absolute must trail. The fall is much more gorgeous in person. It was so stunning she said yes to my proposal there! it’s actually 2.6miles to the waterfall; you literally keep following the trail until the end where you hit this very tall frozen over waterfall. I think the 974ft elevation through the snow was an even more beautiful view than you would have gotten in the summer, just my opinion. Some spots very slippery, and path very close to edge towards the top so be careful. My dog very much enjoyed this hike as well. I recommend keeping on leash if you pup gets a bit too excited.

Excellent trail for a little adventure in the woods. Heard great horned owl as light waned. No other folks or dogs.

Great trail with amazing views. Clear footing and easy to navigate with markers. Busy w/ tons of tourists/hikers, don’t plan to have it to yourself. Plenty of resting spots, you can also easily run most of the trail *if* you’re experienced. Some spots are very narrow and a few of those have steep drops so expect to look ahead & step aside to let passing hikers through. Trekking poles recommended if you normally use them especially if you plan on navigating the rocky portions near the chin. Pack layers, it’s freezing at the summit, but worth it. No shade when you get toward the chin. The only bathrooms are at the parking lot near the info center.

Solid hike, amazing views from the summit. I tend to prefer Camel's Hump because you are in the tree line longer, but love both hikes.

Great trail. No parking other than the side of the road. Super easy and quick. Trail has been packed down enough so snowshoes aren’t necessary but would make it easier. View of the pond. Well marked.

Trail was broken. Fluffy snow. Took 3 hours RT. Pretty rock stackings dusted in snow, and summit look out.

Quick shoe in 0 degrees

We hiked with micro-spikes on 4-5 inches of snow with 6-8 inches near the top. The trail is well blazed for the most part and marked in red. It is a lovely trail, especially near the top with the snow covered conifers. There is no view at the top due to surrounding trees. This is a 6 mile round trip, not 4.7 as stated above.

Fun hike, made more challenging by the snow (had about 6 inches the night before). Trail markers are not frequent, several were broken, and they were much harder to spot towards the top, where the trail narrows. We were also misled by blue ribbons someone tied to trees as we neared the summit, and prematurely veered off to the right.

Fun winter hike. Winter gear and spikes were needed.

Hit the trail after it dropped a few inches. Pretty challenging at times with half snow covered rocks. Would do again though.

Fresh snowfall on trail. (6+ inches) Broke trail to the fire tower. On the way down met up with other hikers. The trail is now clear and packed. Was tricky getting to the tower with snowshoes on.
