This is a good trail for beginners during the summer, but it much more tricky to maneuver with ice and mud. I loved it. Lots of people bring their dogs and trail run up here. Great trail.

Packed trail, a few mnt bikers, few off leash dogs, easy gradual climb. we used microspikes, but probably don't need them necessarily.

January 20th. Perfect for winter trail running. The snow was packed the whole way. I used my trail running shoes and microspikes

Beautiful area. Went on a snowy day and got to laugh at the sled riders. Hoping to come back.

Fantastic winter trail with a great view. Spikes are helpful if you plan to run up or down.

Awesome hike! Beautiful views at the top. There was alot of mud on the trail up before the summit, but just used the rocks to the side to get past. perfect weather. Best place to watch the sunrise

My feet hurt. And I’m so glad to be done- BUT it is worth it. I haven’t seen anything like it. I will say if you are going to do this hike commit to doing the whole thing. It really wasn’t bad in the winter because the water levels were so low. We did rent the neoprene socks from Zion outfitter for $7. There really weren’t any areas that you had to submerge your whole foot but still be prepared and leave early in the morning !

I've hiked this several times, but never in winter, so I hiked this in January with my 7 year old. The trail is rated difficult by the park, but experienced hikers will find it moderate to easy during summer months. In winter it is more challenging. The last 0.2 miles, where the trail goes along a ledge, were covered in an total ice sheet, which made it pretty scary. Bring micro spikes or creepers if you plan on doing this in the winter. Others were hiking in skater shoes and converse sneakers which is NOT ok. Although we got through it, it was not without its moments and my 7 year old cried. There were other kids there, but it definitely took more adult assistance, hand-holding and in some spots carrying to get through the ice. Ice aside, winter was an amazing time to experience this without crowds.

Lovely trail and views! You'll want some sort of traction device for your boots right at the end. 90% of the trail is just rocky or muddy, but the last 10% is very ice and somewhat steep, so our chains for our shoes came in handy. People were still hiking without them, but it was much more difficult and dangerous for them.

I’ve seen several various distances listed for this trail, both alltrails and garmin recorded it at just under 4 miles. Glad I had my spikes, certainly helped more the further into the canyon I went.

Excellent hike, one of the best ever. Added the Grand Wash and narrows since they were both so close. Not too slippery. It’s great to see the parks in the winter, very beautiful.

Such a great hike!! Spikes and poles are highly recommended! Several people have called this trail easy, which I would have to disagree with. A lot of incline and some scrambling. Not super difficult, but definitely made my calves sore. The snow-covered trail and trees were so beautiful. And of course the waterfall!
