Beautiful winter hike! The asphalt portion of the trail had been recently plowed and was in good shape. There were a few slippery areas of ice on the asphalt where runoff had frozen overnight or light snowpack remained, but it was still very manageable. There's a wonderful little bridge and creek near the Northernmost point of the trail. A loop around Hobbs Reservoir can be completed by taking a dirt trail which originates about 50 yards before the end of the asphalt. It's noted by several wooden steps that descend down away from asphalt trail. Although not maintained in the winter, the dirt trail was fully recognizable as it had been snowpacked from other foot traffic. In areas where scrambling might be expected, additional wooden steps had been placed to ease the ascent and descent. The dirt trail follows along the East and South sides of the reservoir and then across the dam back to the asphalt path. Really enjoyed this hike.

Spikes recommend, The last 0.3mile is though but the view from the point is awesome.

I’ve only been on this hike in the summer time and I don’t even know if it’s possible to get up there in the winter, however, such a nice hike, took my dogs up there and it was just fun for everybody!

Snowy the whole way, wear spikes.

6 AM hike. Just above the lake there were fresh cougar tracks in multiple spots across the trail.

Great for an afternoon walk with the dog.

Great trail. I parked at the Ogden Canyon trailhead and returned to a broken front door window. My car was broken into and nothing of value was taken. Take caution. I would suggest not parking in the gravel parking lot there at the trailhead.

Great day! Snowed half the hike, really beautiful! Good boots and poles would work for most of it but I put on spikes for the turn to the falls. Glad I did, some hidden slippery spots under the snow. Last 100 feet, yikes. Also spikes for the trail to the falls are really recommend.

really sketchy right before waterfall without spikes but i made it .

great walk with kids!

Don’t try without spikes. Bells is one of my favorite hikes!

Tons of fun! The waterfall was barely visible because most of it was covered by a sheet of ice but it looked pretty gnarly. Snow was packed and we saw a few families without spikes who were struggling a little bit so it’s way easier and safer with them; No point in risking a bad slip. The last quarter mile was the steepest part but really rewarding on the way back.

Saturday. Lots of people. Snow packed down enough for spikes until the branch point to Red Pine. After that too soft and started post-holing so gave up and turned back. Beautiful day.

Beautiful snowshoeing trail. Pretty packed down with the amount of traffic. Note to hikers and Snowshoers ... please stay to one side of the trail as to not mess up the XC ski tracks. Also no dogs in winter on even days. Share the trails, be courteous and kind to everyone. Dogs are allowed on odd days.

Loved this hike! Lost one of my yak trak shoe spikes on the way down T_T hoping someone finds it!

Loved it! First mile or so was fairly simple, moved into moderate difficulty about a mile off from the first waterfall. After the first falls trail becomes difficult with heavy elevation gains (Almost straight up, not many switchbacks). Trail isn’t well established (There are a few well placed Cairns) to the reservoir and there’s a bit of scrambling but well worth it! Overall it’s a great hike for the whole family, depending on how far up you want to go! Was very heavily trafficked when done in October.

Great sunset hike
