I used to do this to train for other climbs and hikes. I did climb the tower at the top. Fun hike!

A nice winter hike except for the inconsiderate people allowing literally (or should I say litteraly) allowing about 100 dogs to run around off-leash, poop everywhere, and if they bag the poop, leave the bags on the trail. I was hiking down late in the day so I doubt the bags would all be picked up. Gross. Hiking in the spring will be contaminating your boots and clothing and lord knows what else downstream. Trail head signs say keep dogs leashed as does this website and dog waste bags are provided. There are also a fair amount of people coming down on various sleds with marginal control at best as well as a few snowboarders. There was even someone trying to ski down the trail which is funny as his skiers were longer than the width of the trail.

The top has a great view of Utah Lake and Mt Timpanogos to the west. The trail itself is just a view-less double-track fire / communications road in a canyon with a steady incline until the last half mile.

Hiked Donut Falls Trail today. The trail is snow covered but quite packed down from skiers and snowshoes. I used microspikes and it helped me feel more comfortable but I saw many using the trail with just hiking boots. The last portion up to the actual falls was a little bit of a scramble with the fresh fallen snow from a day or two ago but was doable!

I would recommend wearing spikes for this time of year as the trail was pretty icy. We ended up turning back less than a mile in due up the trail being so icy

Beautiful views as always, if you’re wearing spikes (instead of snow shoes) I would go earlier as it’s still icy. On the way down I slid around much more, but it was also 40° out. No leash required on odd days & heavily traveled but still an awesome hike.

I loved this trail, mostly because I could still do it with my bum knee. I didn’t climb up to the falls, but I thoroughly enjoyed beautiful moments of silence among the snow covered trees.

I followed the most recent ski tracks - which took a more circuitous route. Maybe keep a close eye on the GPS. Also, microspikes were sufficient until the last mile or so up, then I needed my snow shoes.

Quick snowshoe outing between classes. Snow was packed, and only like a foot deep in the deepest, loosest parts.

Packed trail, a few mnt bikers, few off leash dogs, easy gradual climb. we used microspikes, but probably don't need them necessarily.

Really pretty trail. Don’t go on a holiday. There were at least 1000 people there. Still fun to go in all the snow.

Super fun day!! We brought snowshoes but ended up just using crampons! Would highly recommend doing that to hike up to the falls and cave! The trail is nice and packed, beautiful views!! Also would recommend bringing a sled to sled on the way down. Super fun!!!

great place to take dogs however was hard to keep on trail with snow pack plus there was ALOT of people sledding down the road where you enter.... I happened to accidentally tackle my mother in law into a snow bank while trying to push my dog out of the way of oncoming sleds... it makes for a great story I guess

This is such a easy, beautiful hike. Great for the whole family. Watch out for hungry chipmunks, lol!!

Great horse trail. Not a lot to see but still enjoyable.

What a great winter hiking trail! It’s beautiful and snowy and there are hardly any people on this hike. That said, the trail is very narrow overall and I think this aspect caused one of our group member’s hips to really hurt. There are low hanging and side branches throughout, so watch out. We took the road back because some in the group needed to get going and it’s quicker, but you do end up walking on the road with cars going by part of the time, which is not a good idea.

Excellent Hike! Lots of snow - snowshoes would have been better but the trail was well packed. Step off to either side and posthole to mid-thigh. 2.2 miles in the trail has not been traveled - about 200 yards from the second bridge. the dogs had a blast! Will be back!

Nice trail for an easy hike in the winter without any gear. We went two days after a big storm and I am glad we waited while others made a path or we wouldn't have been able to find it easily.
