All the way up with micro spikes. Snow was packed all the way to the top. No issues,

Easy trail. There was mud so poles help drastically with balance.

Very lucky this year with another day of fresh UN-tracked snow. Blue sky and a warm day made it a wonder snowshoe.

Too much snow without snowshoes for sections of the trail, but absolutely amazing still!

A great trail providing a variety of scenery and hiking difficulty. The Hidden Pinyon Trail is short but moderate with stunning scenery. The Petrified Dunes is an other worldly experience of hiking over bare rock that climbs to a nice vantage point. Next, you’ll connect to the Butterfly Trail which is relatively easy except for a steep downward climb towards the beginning. The Lava Flow outlook provides panoramic views over Snow Canyon. Then you’ll descend into the west canyon through thick white sand and then follow the road back to the red sands trail which will drop you off back at the trail head.

Great views! Quick and easy trail to knock out, but be warned that it is a muddy mess when it's raining.

This is a good trail for beginners during the summer, but it much more tricky to maneuver with ice and mud. I loved it. Lots of people bring their dogs and trail run up here. Great trail.

Great & challenging hike, substantially more challenging in the winter than in the summer. Poles & yak trax were a must, I didn’t see the need for snow shoes on the way up, but they would’ve been incredibly helpful on the slip & slide all the way down. Many folks hiked up with sleds and had a great time on the way down, wish I’d thought of that. The parking lot is closed and parking along the snowbank on Big Cottonwood is a little sketchy but doable.
