Wonderful hike with some amazing views at the top. The gate closure at the bottom adds a grueling .5 mile ascent up a paved 23% graded road. Lots of wide switchbacks and a few steep ascents along the way. Snow and ice pack made it a bit more difficult. Spikes and trekking poles could have assisted at the higher elevations, but they weren't ultimately needed.

Great & challenging hike, substantially more challenging in the winter than in the summer. Poles & yak trax were a must, I didn’t see the need for snow shoes on the way up, but they would’ve been incredibly helpful on the slip & slide all the way down. Many folks hiked up with sleds and had a great time on the way down, wish I’d thought of that. The parking lot is closed and parking along the snowbank on Big Cottonwood is a little sketchy but doable.

We went in January so it was cold and icy. The majority of the trail was sheeted in a thick layer of ice. Still managed to hike just fine (albeit a bit slowly) and safely in regular running shoes. The view is breathtaking. This is my favorite hike at Arches so far. Kid-friendly as long as you have patience with the ice, no crazy drop offs or anything.

Really muddy, horse poop, and bison poop! It’s super easy, flat, cold cold cold, and windy. However, it’s a great trail for kids or beginners. Took my kids and they loved it. Great trail for winter running training. If it weren’t so muddy, it be awesome, very hard to trudge through the mud running. I had speed cross Salomon trail runners and they did ok.

This is my favorite trail because it’s close to me and it’s a great workout! Currently you need spikes to get up the rock wall and snowshoes are optimal at about 1.5-2 miles in. I had microspikes and gaiters which did ok, but snowshoes would get you further on the trail. I’m excited to get another snow storm and break some trail next week! It was windy and pretty cold and overcast. Still hecka fun!

Packed trail, a few mnt bikers, few off leash dogs, easy gradual climb. we used microspikes, but probably don't need them necessarily.

It was really icy and pretty difficult to get up, luckily we had some poles. the frozen waterfall was great to look at, but sliding down was so much fun! Bring a small sled, it would definitely be worth it.

loved it! pretty snow hike and good sledding hills

Please try to stay in the trails. There are footprints everywhere despite restoration signs.

First time up Mill Creek Canyon....now I know where the term "everybody and their dog" comes from. Amazing the number of people who use this beautiful area. Went early on a Sunday morning. The trail is beautiful and easy to follow. Well packed from skiers and hikers until the last 1/4 mile. The top of this trailers very rewarding. There is a nice clearing at the top after hiking through trees most of the time. The clearing is a great spot for a break and snack. Highly recommend and hope to do it again.

January 20th. Perfect for winter trail running. The snow was packed the whole way. I used my trail running shoes and microspikes

Great place for kids to explore! Lots of caves and little slot canyons and just so fun. The arch is cool too. Just be careful if you hear any rumble sounds, there could be falling rock. We had some small ones sprinkle on us when we were in a cave, didn’t realize what was going on until after, so it was a good reminder to be careful!

Beautiful winter hike! The asphalt portion of the trail had been recently plowed and was in good shape. There were a few slippery areas of ice on the asphalt where runoff had frozen overnight or light snowpack remained, but it was still very manageable. There's a wonderful little bridge and creek near the Northernmost point of the trail. A loop around Hobbs Reservoir can be completed by taking a dirt trail which originates about 50 yards before the end of the asphalt. It's noted by several wooden steps that descend down away from asphalt trail. Although not maintained in the winter, the dirt trail was fully recognizable as it had been snowpacked from other foot traffic. In areas where scrambling might be expected, additional wooden steps had been placed to ease the ascent and descent. The dirt trail follows along the East and South sides of the reservoir and then across the dam back to the asphalt path. Really enjoyed this hike.

I'm a intermediate rider and thought this trail was perfect. It was a little techie and I had to walk a few spots. Not any hard climbing. The views were fantastic!!
