Did the Blue Loop today! Fantastic trail that goes up down, and all around! Lovely views of the lake and near mile marker 6 a peaceful stroll through the prairie!

I did the 3 mile First Day Hike, while others in the group did the 8 mile loop or ran the 3 miles. It has some mild ups and downs, lots of switchbacks and quite a few downed trees, but only one was across the trail. Well maintained. Trail guide kept up a good pace. I plan to return for a weekend this spring to do the long loop and a couple other trails overnight.

I would recommend this trail. As a local it took me to places I didn't know and gave me the history of the city I live in. If you actually want to look at the museums, houses, and tourist attractions on this trail, I suggest looking up when the museums close and leave a whole day open to do this trail. Also, this trail did not take us through too many geto areas

love this trail in my home town. very easy and usually run it 2 or 3 times around. sometimes lots if trail biking going on but other than that good run.

Beautiful paved trails that follow the San Antonio River that lead to all the San Antonio Missions and several parks including the beautiful Confluence Park. Beautifully maintained and several stops to grab a bite once you reach Blue Star.

a great place to relax and take a breather. bikes readily available through out the trail. can be rented by credit card at kiosk or through the app. $20 monthly charge is the best but annual is $100. best value price

Pretty drive around the park. Saw lots of good scenery and the flowers were blooming which was nice.

Quite a few bikers to watch out for, but they’re all very polite. Trail was great; it’s well-maintained and mostly shaded. I would definitely do it again. Going 8 miles kicked our butts!

Great trail with plenty of turns and slight inclines/declines. Watch out for the roots in the ground. This area has frequent bouts of shade and sun. It does require a $7 per person entry fee.

Stunningly beautiful. Amazing this exists in Texas. Very steep and windy road. Narrow and tight in spots.

We got married at the top of the trail.Where the picnic pavilion is. The over look is beautiful.

l would rate this trail as on the high end of easy to low end of moderate as compared to other trails in the moderate rating.the reason for this is it has to many twitch backs that eliminate any aggressive upward climbing not once was I ever winded .

Nice trail. This is my first time here. I typically go with the grain on my first attempt on a new trail since the signage is easier to see that way. However this trail has great markings for hikers going against the grain. The trail is a good mixture of open, forest, twists and turns and ups and down. It is also well maintained. The only downside is the $7 park entrance fee. Also note that the trail route is extremely different in two spots compared to the trail map.

Had a sighting of a horned lizard. Haven't seen one alive in almost 35 years. Really nice moderate hike also.

Rode through here on bikes. Not too crowded. Paved the whole way.

Nice drive, although most of the nice scenery is in the northern half of the route shown. Passes numerous ranches, a granite quarry and a few wineries before arriving at the Backbone Mountain LBJ memorial scenic overlook. Also known as "Lookout Mountain" to locals. Don't miss pulling off here for great views of Lake LBJ and the surrounding Hill Country. The drive through Inks Lake State Park to highway 29 is curvy and scenic, with many granite outcroppings and views of Inks Lake.

go early when there isn’t too many bike riders or joggers. if dog walking take plenty of poop bags and water. very little to no shade. careful with snakes and critters. some trail is paved and some isn’t. overall - clean and well taken care of trail.

This is a good walk if you want to see a lot of attractions in downtown San Antonio

This is the perfect place for anyone in close range to get a short hike in, its a great little hike. It’s open and unshaded for the most part but does have a little elevation ranges for some good exercise, bring lots of water, and some sunblock. My girlfriend and I take trips out to big hikes but frequent this trail in Big Springs to keep in shape in between big hikes. The views are actually really nice for West Texas. Be sure to check out the little nature trail in the middle of the park for some west Texas flowers and a little shade.

First, thanks to DORBA and Texas Parks Dept. DFW has had tons of rain since last fall. Expected trail to be overgrown but vegetation was trimmed back. Thanks! Of course all the rain, not just this year but the last few years, has resulted in roots, roots, and more roots on the trails. Definitely tougher going up grade and hitting those. But who wants it easy. Fun from beginning to end.

As of July 12, the trails are reopened. I called before I left, because the app still reports them closed. There are 3 Dorba paths. The green (3mile loop), the blue (8 miles)and the red (12 miles). The green Dorba path is narrow and shared with mountain bikers. Many of them Don’t give you warning when they are flying through....other than that, and some Trash on the trail...the 3 mile loop was great. End with the lake to get a great breeze towards the end of your hike.

The new Scenic Mountain Loop is a wonderful addition to the park. There isn't much shade (if at all) on the loop, but it's well-defined and rich with native plants and wildlife (just watch out for rattlesnakes--I heard a couple of them out there). Pack some water, wear a hat and enjoy this much-needed addition to an underrated state park.

One of the most beautiful drives you will take (though all the park is beautiful). Lots of opportunities to hit offshoot hiking trails or stop for overlooks and information boards. Castolon is currently in a state of disrepair due to being burned in a wildfire.

it was very hot but not sunny so not too bad. trails was paved n beautiful...lots of bikers.

Pretty trail. Needs some trash clean up and it would be perfect.

This is the recording of the new scenic mountain loop installed by the West Texas Trail Alliance. Good for hiking and experienced mountain bikers.
