A nice outing for family and friends. It’s close to home so I’ve done the trails many times. The hike to the peak is fun. Always wear proper shoes for hiking...at least athletic shoes. I’ve seen people trying it in flip flops and Sandals...not a good idea on this hike. Make a reservation. Only a certain number of people are allowed in at one time and it fills up often. Take water.

A decent, easy and quick hike. Worth doing if you have time to kill. Nothing groundbreaking. The three stars are for The Manzanita Spring trail. If you go past the Manzanita Spring, you can do the Smith Spring Loop. That is defiantly worth doing.

This is an easy, family friendly hike. The trail is fairly rough for a small portion of the hike, mainly during your small climb up and down from the spring. The main point of the trail is the spring, halfway through the loop. It's a rare water source, with impressive foliage, very impressive, especially when you consider you are in the desert.

Nice, easy gravel trail. You can start from either HWY 428 or 455. As other reviews have said, south of HWY 428 remains closed. It’s nice and wide so bikers and hikers can share the path. Goes for 4 miles, first mile coming from the north is tree covered, but the other 3 miles has no shade, running along fields with livestock—nice to see while on the trail. There’s an equestrian trail on the east side of the river but it was closed.

Similar to the Savannah Loop trail, but longer. Fairly flat, and a good beginner hike. We also have used it for trail running.

We stopped here after a morning hike. Didn’t do the whole trail, just walked to the river. So pretty!

We drove this portion of the park after a morning hike and stop at the fossil museum. The end wasn’t anything special, but the overlook just after the tunnel was worth the stop.

We were just passing through so this trail was perfect. Pretty views and some interesting history. Went the week of Thanksgiving and it was so windy. I had to stop at certain points because I felt like I was going to blow over. Haha

Nice hike. Saw some huge cacti and plants. Saw wildlife, including a black bear minding his business off to the side.

Great trail with beautiful views. Not tons of parking so get there early.

in the month of January, perfect weather, just a tad gusty. We started hike counterclockwise which made for a nicer climb to saddle.

Definitely our most challenging hike to date. My biggest suggestion about this hike is don’t underestimate the challenging nature of the ascent and start from the trailhead early! We hiked this the first week in December. The hardest park of this hike is definitely the first 1.5 miles. It is all ascent, and steep ascent at that. You will gain much of your elevation at this time. This trail gains just over 3,000ft total. Take your time in this section and take breaks if you need to. The best part of this section is looking out and seeing the improving views of the landscape below as you go. The last 0.25 miles can be a little tricky. The trail loses definition somewhat and a little scrambling is required. But my goodness...those views! Breathtaking! Honestly, the descent is not necessarily easy either as the switchbacks are not gradual by any means and we were tired by this point. You are exposed for majority of this hike during the most difficult parts, so pack plenty of water and wear sunscreen. Also, can be very windy in spots so keep that in mind. This is a beautiful, challenging, breathtaking hike. Don’t underestimate it, but don’t underestimate yourself either!

Great for a family of 6 with our youngest being only 5. Lots to explore, some really beautiful, rugged terrain.

Good 3-4hour outing in the fresh month of January.

Small detour off the main path due to wash out, but overall nice trail with two bridges over beautiful creeks.

Moderate trail for moderately interesting. Pros: Great points of interest, good for hiking and for trail running or biking. Cons: Long to be long, hard to immerse yourself into nature due to water plant, houses, roads, and cars. TOO MANY SWITCH BACKS! Decent enough to get out and about for a few hours and enjoy the points of interest. Not at all a bad trail system- but this is better for bikers.

First time taking the kids on this trail. We stopped at the benches which was a good turn around point for us. On our way back we found a couple of spots to explore off the trail. We look forward to exploring this trail again some time.

Good family friendly hike. Would come back. Looking forward to using mountain bike.

Well maintained natural earth and wood chip trail. Most parts of the trail are well shaded. Plenty up and down to experience elevation. It is heavily trafficked so getting there early is recommended to avoid looking for parking spot. Some benches along the trail are scribbled, a byproduct of heavy traffic.

Beautiful trail. This was a great experience for me and my nieces (10, 13, and 14) who have Never Gone Hiking! I wanted to start them off with something simple but beautiful and this was perfect!! Highly recommended!

there is really no discernible trail here. mostly scrambling on loose rocks. not very enjoyable. would not recommend.

The trails here are poorly marked. Difficult to know exactly what trail you are on. Sadly being out in nature here is hindered by broken glass and trash everywhere.

Easy walk through the woods along the river :) Pretty day!

Nice trail for being so close to the city. Several ups and downs, but nothing too difficult. I would rate this at the high end of easy. I forgot to start recording the beginning of the trail. Started at parking for Greer Island. Ended up jogging the road back because one of our group needed a break. Plan to come back to do the entire thing out and back.
