What a fabulous trail this is! Hiked it on a beautiful 60° day in January with my humans. Wide trail with sturdy footing beautiful views of the ponds. Definitely coming back here to explore some of the trails that shoot off of this one. Wear orange!!! There was a generous amount of shotgun firing going on surrounding us. Not too close but self-preservation is key! Get out there and hike!

This hike was an awesome surprise. While it wasn't difficult the damp/wet conditions made it slick and the moss covered rocks in places made it quite slippery. There were moderate elevation changes which made it for a great workout. I definately recommend this trail and will be back myself ! The weather was a balmy 60°, not bad for January 11th

GPS missed the beginning. Park at Hunter Check Station; 2224 Ten Rod Rd. Mt Tom Trail is white blazes. Challenging due to large rocks that can become very slippery with moisture or ice (climb to ledges.) 2nd part is fairly level. Rock chairs are located on this path.

Its a utility road not a trail. Its was pretty boring to me. I wouldn’t do it again.

There were no maps that we could find, trails were clearly marked but if you don’t know the area you don’t know where you’re going. Also be careful towards sundown, there was a group of people attempting to break into my car.

My kids (6 and 3) and I had a blast on this trail. We spent more time by the rocks and tidal pools, overlooking the ocean (which I was nervous about at first, with a loose cannon three year-old, but which turned out to be very manageable) than on the trails themselves. But it was a great hour and a half outside with my little ones! I would recommend hiking, rain or snow boots as some areas of the trails were super muddy or were tough to pass without getting your feet wet in sneakers. Nothing a change of socks and sneakers (and in our case, pants) wont fix, but if you prefer to avoid that...

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid! It’s a fun hike that’s easy to find and allows for different levels of difficulty. It’s kid friendly and dog friendly. Although it’s a nature preserve, it’s always smart to wear bright colors during hunting season. Unfortunately not everyone follows the rules. The common trail is just straight from the parking lot to the water with views of Quonset to the left and Jamestown bridge to the right. It’s pretty easy with slight rocky patches but otherwise a smooth and wide path. There are tons of narrower paths off of this route that have hidden gems depending on where you go (e.g. old ford car, stone building remains, even a little offering shrine!). Most of this trail is easy to navigate despite not being marked. The best part is finding the trail which leads to the actual “rome point” where you can spot seas during certain months. They can be seen with the naked eye but it’s a great idea to bring binoculars! It is VERY buggy in the warm months and still accessible in the snow if you wear the right gear.

Nice quiet path with many short side trails. The holly trees stand out with the other trees having lost their leaves.

It’s a great trail to walk, talk or listen. If you want to learn, the wonderful volunteers have made signs, maps and left photos for you to look at! Quite interesting!

We went on breakheart connected with Newman then holy grail and finished back at breakheart. About 4.5 miles. Went end of November. Beautiful fall hike. Well marked except holy grail trail. Wear orange during hunting season. Enjoy!

We where there Sunday the trails where well marked clear of debris for most part loved go back anytime

This trail has alot of cart paths and is not measured properly. It stated that it was 3.2 miles but in actuality it was only 2.6 miles. It was okay but it did not live up to my expectations

some parts muddy... but beautiful... so many places to picnic.. ill be back again soon

The preview says this is at the Touisset Wildlife Refuge, but it’s not. That’s a different spot, an Audubon Society of R.I. refuge in Warren RI. . The East Bay Bike Path at one point goes through a different Audubon refuge, the Claire McIntosh refuge.

Beautiful area but vests are required to hike here for most of the fall and winter.

Nice hike with many interesting sights. I recommend the hike up big rock. Main trails were well marked and traveled. There were several trees down in the middle of the paths but this did not impede the hike. As lovely as it is in the fall I imagine the green and red trails to be a vision in the spring as they had good stretchs of the trail bordered and canopied in mountain laurel.

Great spot for an easy walk...as others have said, trails are not well marked and not always easy to follow (especially with leaves down) so make sure you know where you’re going before setting out. Great views of the fall foliage; there were a few blowdowns across the path and it does get muddy after rain.

The beach is really lovely - and a great place to come to look for seals! Or sea shells
