I don’t know specifically what trail I did. I was walking my two dogs and tried to rely on memory - and I got a little turned around. Lots of trails - easy to get confused - this map will help a lot - if you pay attention. Haha. I went 17JAN, Friday at 12. It was semi busy - I think mostly moms at the nature center. Trail itself wasn’t too busy. I ran into equal mix of dogs and people. If you have excited or aggressive pets - FYI the trail is tight in a lot of spots and can make it awkward trying to maneuver. Super pretty - creeks and pools of water on the trail I did. Would go again- but this time more proper; i.e. towels for the dogs to wipe the mud and securing my car a bit better with blankets. Also - good mud boots. I slipped a few times - but my fault for thinking I wasn’t gonna encounter some mud!

A good hike, but overrated. At least in winter. There was hardly any water. If you want a hike that has a good reward and view at the end, you may want to check out another.

Nice nature walk. Not surprisingly it was quite muddy in Dec/Jan but for a quick outting to get the dogs out, not bad. Transient camps are along the water and towards the end.

What a great day! Driving Conditions: Roads were pretty good, definitely started to get snow packed by the time you reach Rhododendron. I drive a Kia Sportage AWD and didn't need to chain up. As long as you're careful, know how to drive in snow, it was no problem. Trail: First mile could have been done with just spikes, after that you could struggle up without shoes but there was definitely post holing from people before us doing that. By about halfway up, we were glad for our snowshoes. They were a must to do the loop all the way around the lake instead of hanging out at the entrance. we saw several groups up with no shoes or spikes, and they looked miserable. And lots of signs of people post holing to their waists. Beautiful, have fun!

Fresh 5-6’ of snow. Follow the green plastic ribbons on the trees. Need to really search for some of them, but the scenery is gorgeous. Needs snowshoes

I love this trail, and usually use it as the beginning of a loop, which you can make if you take Bandersnatch to Snark. Snark finishes up where Banadersnatch began. About 3 miles if you add the distance from and to the parking area up the road. Today it was pretty snowy on the higher up parts, and kind of slick on the steeper downhills. But gorgeous and fun as always!

Great views. On way up closer to the top, was a really steep incline. Very challenging if one isn’t in great shape. Did this one without poles. was manageable, even though I usually prefer to have them, predominantly for downhill to protect the knees. Fun and challenging. Did this hike on Monday. Muddy but no problem. Kudos to the nice friendly guy who was jogging this hike in the cold and rain. Looked like his dog, who was off leash, was having a blast keeping up with him. On way down got a break of sun. Was nice. Definitely recommend. Check out Spencer Butte as well. Did that one today 1/15. Was awesome. I kinda liked the Spencer Butte a bit more, but both nice. Check out my review on that hike.

A little muddy but no problem. Rocks to step up. Poles very helpful, especially since I have short legs. Some light snow and crunchy thin ice patches. Trail definitely doable. Went up harder side and near top is wear the rocky scramble started. Trail could be better marked on this side d/t people having made lots of side trails. Found zig zagging thru rocks at times, which is what made it more of a scramble. Great views. Was windy and a lil cold, but I was dressed for it. Going down stairs cut into rocks. Was nice and pretty cool too. Loved the forested part of trail on way down once past the stairs section. Great hike overall. Highly recommend this one. Difficult way up was fun and challenging.

!st time on trail with a little snow. Dogs loved it. Had to be creative moving a couple of downed trees to get up the road.
