Did this hike last summer. It was easily one of the most beautiful hikes I’ve been on. The trail was well maintained. It gets pretty steep, especially towards the end, so use caution. Super pretty and I would definitely do this again.

Amazing snowshoe hike! Make sure to come early. The parking fills up quickly. We actually received a $80 fine today as we parked alongside the road. The fine was totally worth it though. There are a lot of trails that lead up to the summit. After 1338 ft elevation and in total 3.1 miles we got all the way to the top and back. The views were absolutely stunning. The hike is definitely strenuous, but doable and so worth it.

a a great off the trail next two black butte trailhead

Lot of snow, but still doable. Make sure you stay on the trail. Bring extra jackets for the top.

Tumalo Mountain, in the shadow of Mt. Bachelor, also has magnificent views of the Sisters, Broken Top, and Tam McArthur Rim. Wonderful hike 1/5/20!! We arrived about noon and were surprised we were able to park at trailhead, as we read we’d have to park at ski bowl west parking lot. We started with snow shoes (since we were so excited to use them haha) but took them off and did just fine with boots. Beautiful hike with just the right number of people. Really fun and we’ll look forward to doing it again when there’s more snow!!

I just went straight up to the best of my ability. Definitely steep, but totally worth it. I used snow shoes and had no issues. The top is absolutely stunning. Roads up are pretty clear, definitely want a 4WD vehicle tho

Did this hike today 1/05/2020. What a wonderful hike! I got to the trailhead around 7 am and it was empty. The trail on the way up was in good shape. I did fine without snow shoes, I did use my spikes though. Sadly today wasnt that clear up there so no great views. I'll definitely go back on a more clear day.

It’s basically straight up hill the entire time but it was amazing. snowshoes were a huge help. The view is by FAR worth the climb. It was one of the most beautiful hikes I’ve even done.

It was a nice hike and not too difficult. my 14yo son hiked with me and was able to do it. Weather was overcast and some of the trail was slick especially on the north side with less sun but overall a great day out.

Beautiful views was fogged in when we got to the top and the shelter was locked.... during this time of yr recommend wearing warm coat and possibly some yak trax frosty at the top... Dog friendly on leash views absolutely amazing when you can see them.

It was an intense lung workout to the misery summit. I felt vertigo and altitude sickness just because I’m not trained in doing such cardio so quickly. Hearing fellow hikers say they were so busy focusing on their misery on the way up was hilarious. You feel their pain. You can take it at your own pace but the steps and trail up is quiet narrow and wet so trying to avoid running into people can be hard. The hike down was the best part aside from the summit. Recommend time to get this hike done about 2 to 2 1/2 hours. So exhilarating!
